From September 2nd to 9th the radio+ participants from Zimbabwe and Germany are coming together for an international training week. After two kick-off meetings in August in Berlin and Harare respectively the group will spend one week together in Berlin to build build personal friendships, form intercultural working teams, and start producing radio programmes together. During the training week, the radio+ group will broaden their editorial and technical skills through interview and speaking trainings, a one day BarCamp and an audio-cut workshop, among others. The participants further have the opportunity gain practical insights into broadcasting while participating in a live radio show at Freies Radio Potsdam and during a meeting with radio activists. The programme is rounded off by a visit to the open radio channel ‘Radio ALEX’ and of course some sightseeing in Berlin.

For the time of their stay in Germany, the emerging radio journalists from Zimbabwe will stay with the participants from Berlin and thus experience a good portion of German culture and student life in Berlin. Following the training week, the radio+ group will travel to Hamburg to attend a media conference on the topic ‘Information, Innovation, Revolution – Africa as reflected in the Media’ which is organised by the Partnership with Africa Foundation.
